Beaumont, Texas – Ronnie Jacob is
serious about safety, just as serious as he is about making sure Southeast Texas
has the kind of quality, reliable electric service that other companies will
want to emulate.
Jacob, a 23-year veteran with Entergy
Corporation, came on board as Entergy Texas, Inc.’s director of distribution
operations in June. And he brought some straight talk and clear goals with him.
“My role is to oversee the safe and
efficient operation of the distribution facilities in Entergy’s service area in
Texas,” Jacob says. “My goal is to eliminate exposure to injury by both our
employees and the public and to improve our system’s performance.
“I want to build on the quality
teamwork already in place among all Texas employees so we can be even better at
pulling the cart in the same direction. Together as a team, we can be the
utility in Texas that others benchmark against.”
Jacob began his career as a line
worker in Louisiana in 1986. He went to work not only on the power lines that
provide electricity to customers, but also on his education, earning first a
bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering at the University of New
Orleans and second, a masters in business administration from Tulane University.
A certified occupational safety
specialist, Jacob became director for Entergy Corp.’s utility group safety in
2005, after putting in time in the company’s transmission organization.
“Ronnie brings a wealth of experience
to Entergy Texas,” said Joe Domino, president and chief operating officer,
Entergy Texas, Inc. “His hands-on experience in the field, combined with a
quality understanding of the business and a focus on safety are a custom fit for
our company. I look forward to seeing our operations in Texas move to a new
level under his leadership.”
Jacob and his wife, Jeanne, have two
sons, Rene, 26, and Ryan, 20.
Entergy Texas, Inc. provides
electricity to 400,000 customers in 27 counties. It is a subsidiary of Entergy
