Energy Efficiency - for Your Home

Entergy Texas’ Home Energy Efficiency program is designed to help you improve your home’s energy efficiency at little or no charge. These energy efficiency improvements may include duct sealing, weather stripping, caulking around windows, sealing plumbing penetrations, checking and sealing air returns/ducts if you have central air conditioning, and also the addition of attic insulation. This program also provides incentives to participating air conditioning and heating dealers to encourage customers like yourself to upgrade your heating and air conditioning systems. All of these measures can save you money on your electric bills.

Step 1. Decide which program best fits your needs.

Step 2. Contact an Entergy-approved contractor from the list here. (Click here to access list of contractors.)
These contractors work for many utilities throughout Texas. You will need to find one who will be in your area and for whom funding is still available. Please note, these programs are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis with contractors working until funds are exhausted. Once you identify a contractor who will be in your area and you and the contractor determine your house may be eligible for weatherization, the contractor will set up an appointment with you.
Step 3. The contractor will come to your home and conduct tests to determine whether it is a fit for weatherization work. If your home has broken windows, holes in walls or other major leakage which would require work other than weatherization, the contractor will not be able to sign an agreement with you. It is also possible that your home is already energy efficient, another reason that work may not be performed.
Step 4. If improvements can be made at your home and you are willing to sign an agreement with the contractor, weatherization work will take place. If you have central air conditioning, the contractor will also check the duct system and perform any work necessary to get it into compliance.
Step 5. Sometimes the contractor will offer additional services at a cost to you. This is a part of what they do and may include an offer of solar screens, water saving devices or other energy saving tools. Whether you decide to buy additional services or products is strictly up to you.
Step 6. Once work is complete, you will enjoy a more comfortable home that uses less energy.
Step 7. If you are unable to find a contractor who will be in your area for weatherization in the immediate future, please remember Entergy Texas’ program receives new funding and begins each January. Please check this website again for program details. Also, you may find additional tips and weatherization ideas at entergy-texas.com/Ensight
