Michael Barnhill – Director Economic Development, Entergy Texas, Inc.
Michael Barnhill is director of Economic Development and Real Estate for
Entergy Texas, Inc. As director, he oversees a staff of one administrative
assistant, two industrial recruiters, three community developers, one trade
show coordinator, and one research analyst. His responsibilities include
management of the three economic development programs: Domestic Recruiting,
Existing Industry, and Community Development/Teamwork.
Recently his responsibilities expanded to include oversight of real estate for
Entergy Texas. In this role he oversees a budget of over $10 million for space
planning, leasing, operations and maintenance of Entergy’s facilities. These
facilities include land and over 1,000,000 square feet of space. In addition,
Michael is responsible for business relationships with economic development
allies and community leaders.
A native of Mississippi, Barnhill joined Entergy System in 1981. Prior to his
current position, Barnhill served as director of Strategic Planning for
Entergy, a role that included facilitating senior management's long-term
direction for Entergy. Barnhill, a certified public accountant, also has
financial expertise from his position as an officer with a Jackson,
Mississippi real estate development company and his work with Ernst & Whinney
Certified Public Accountants (now Ernst & Young). Barnhill holds a BS in
Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and an MBA
from Loyola University.
