Efficiency Standards

This program includes new construction of single family and multi-family homes that are individually metered. The homes must receive electric distribution services from EGSI Texas. The home should be occupied within four months of the submission of its ENERGY STAR® certification to Entergy.

To qualify under the program, a home most meet a performance standard of 85 HERS index PLUS be at least 15% more efficient than the International Residential Conservation Code (IECC).

This performance standard can be met through many combinations of insulation, efficient windows, air sealing, efficient HVAC equipment, and/or duct sealing. Prescriptive packages (e.g. EPA-developed Builder Option Packages (BOPs)) may be offered to builders to facilitate attaining of ENERGY STAR® certification. Draft versions of the EPA's BOPs detailing the minimum required efficiency features for new homes may be acquired by contacting the EPA.
