Home Energy Efficiency

How does it Work?

Entergy provides incentives to Service Providers who implement energy saving projects in homes located in Entergy's service area.

The incentives are to help offset the cost of energy efficiency measures completed in a consumer's home measures that otherwise may not be completed without the help of the incentives. Homes less than 5 years old are not eligible.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I register?
You do not need to register. Simply call one of the project sponsors working in our program. You can find a list* of sponsors at our Web site

*Please make this a link to our sponsor lists (both of them)

  2. How is qualification determined?
There are no qualifications to participate in the program. If you are on a fixed income or meet certain low-income guidelines, you can participate in the Hard to Reach program. Your income level, however, will not exclude you from participating in the program

  3. Once work is started, are any costs passed on to the customer?
Usually the customer does not pay costs associated with the program. But there are exceptions. Some sponsors may offer to insulate at an additional cost. There is NO obligation to do that. Other project sponsors may add insulation at no cost. For typical weatherization work, such as caulking, weather striping, duct efficiency, etc., there is NO CHARGE.

  4. What will disqualify me?
Since the program is designed to reduce electricity consumption, some sponsors prefer to work with all electric homes. If you have all gas appliances, gas heat, gas water heater, etc., some sponsors may not elect to provide energy efficiency measures because the amount of energy they will be able to save from energy efficiency projects will be minimal. They receive payment from the program based on the amount of energy use that is reduced at the home. If a home is five years old or newer, or has been recently totally renovated, measures to decrease infiltration may not be done because the project sponsor will be unable to lower the infiltration levels enough to qualify for incentive payments.

  5. What weatherization projects are offered?
Weatherization measures may vary by project sponsor. At a minimum, the project sponsor MUST do at least one but not all of the following: wall or attic insulation, duct ceiling, infiltration reduction, or water heating pipe wrap. Once any one of these measures are installed, the project sponsor may then install compact fluorescent light bulbs, faucet aerators, low flow shower heads, and other small energy saving devices.

  6. Do I have to own the home and have service in my name?
No, you do not have to own your own home. However, the person whose name is on the utility account must sign the paperwork. For renters, the landlord must sign an acknowledgement that they give permission for the project sponsor to perform the work

Selecting an Energy Efficiency Service Provider

We encourage you to use our How to Select a Service Provider guide to help you compare providers

The Service Provider will evaluate your home to determine which measures will save the most energy and product the greatest reduction in home energy costs. Some providers charge for this pre-assessment and some do not. Each Service Provider is required to ensure all installations are completed with quality workmanship. Be sure to inspect the work before signing any final forms. You should contact your Service Provider to resolve any issues with the installation. The next step would be to utilize the complaint procedure outlined in the Consumer Disclosure and Protection form provided by the Service Provider.
