Texas High Voltage Overhead Lines Act
To promote worker and public safety, Texas has existing laws that are to be
followed by those who work or perform activities near overhead power lines.
Specifically:
Texas' Health & Safety Code, Chapter 752 (Health & Safety Code §
752.001, et seq., Vernon 2002) prohibits unauthorized persons from performing
any function or activity on land, a building, a highway, or other premises
within 6 feet of a high voltage overhead line.
If any unauthorized person intends to work within 6 feet of any high voltage
overhead electric utility line, the person responsible for the work to be done
must notify the owner or operator of the high voltage overhead electric utility
line not less than 48 hours prior to commencing work.
Work shall be performed only after satisfactory mutual arrangements have
been completed between the owner or operator of the high voltage overhead
electric utility line and the person responsible for the work to be done.
To notify Entergy that you intend to work within 6 feet of a high voltage
overhead electric utility line owned or operated by it, please call
1-800-ENTERGY (1-800-368-3749).
